Our client, a leading international retail brand, is currently establishing a Tax Centre of Excellence to proactively support business growth and navigate the rapidly evolving digital and international tax landscape.

Reporting directly to the Head of Tax, this is an exceptional opportunity for an ambitious corporate tax professional looking to expand their tax, business, and technology skills. In this role, you will become a trusted advisor to senior leadership, guide future tax automation and governance, and collaborate across finance, legal, and tech teams to ensure the business is fully optimized for the digital era.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance Lifecycle: Manage the direct tax and transfer pricing compliance lifecycle, including country-by-country reporting and filings.
  • Pillar Two: Take ownership of Pillar Two reporting requirements and related documentation.
  • Transfer Pricing: Maintain and develop transfer pricing methodologies, documentation, and guidelines.
  • Horizon Scanning: Monitor international legislative changes and assess their potential impact on the wider global group.
  • Advisory & Partnership: Provide robust tax advisory support and build trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Tax Automation: Drive continuous improvement by defining requirements for tax automation, digital reporting, and system/process changes.
  • Strategic Reporting: Develop leadership reporting and forecasting tools to drive efficiency and deliver strategic value.

Detailed Responsibilities

  • Prepare and review corporate tax returns and related statutory filings.
  • Support tax governance requirements and maintain all necessary documentation.
  • Author tax requirement documents for business projects or legislative changes, managing project engagement through to completion.
  • Partner with the Indirect Tax team to ensure robust reconciliation and audit readiness in response to digital legislation.
  • Liaise with external professional consultants to finalize calculations and ensure filing accuracy.
  • Collaborate with data and IT teams to develop automated reporting for Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing by providing clear configuration requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of people, processes, and technology in meeting tax obligations.
  • Provide regular legislative and case law updates to the Head of Department.
  • Support the Head of Tax in delivering clear governance and guidance to broader finance teams regarding their direct tax and transfer pricing obligations.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

  • Qualification: Fully qualified AITI / CTA (or equivalent international qualification).
  • Experience: 7+ years of dedicated Corporate Tax experience.
  • Specialism: Hands-on experience with Transfer Pricing regulations and methodologies.
  • Communication: Exceptional written, oral, and presentation skills, with a proven ability to translate complex tax concepts for non-tax audiences.
  • Collaboration: A strong team player committed to collective success and driving team goals.

Preferred Skills (Desirable)

  • Experience working on digital legislation or tax automation/technology implementation projects.
  • Exposure to Pillar Two reporting frameworks.
  • International corporate tax experience within a large corporate or multinational environment.
  • Proven experience in designing tax governance documentation.
