The Firm
My client are one of Ireland’s most internationally recognised law firms with a strong financial services practice house within a full service legal environment. They are considered one of the best firms to work with, evident by significantly lower than average staff turnover and further supported by the strongest compensation and benefits package available to lawyers in Ireland.

The Team
Their financial services regulatory team comprises leading regulatory lawyers and experts forming a balanced team advising cross sector from Investment funds, fund services, payment and credit institutions and insurance providers (life and non-life).

The Candidate

They are looking for an ambitious candidate with strong regulatory advisory experience that can assist the Financial Services Regulatory team increase its client base and client deliverables. It is a prerequisite for the role that the successful candidate has both strong external consultancy experience in a similar advisory role and also has practical operational experience in a broad compliance role, preferably acting as a Pre-Approval Controlled Function (“PCF”) or equivalent. The successful candidate will be self-motivated, with a proven ability to work on their own initiative within a challenging and dynamic work environment. They will also possess outstanding communication skills (both spoken and written) and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate will also have the necessary IT skills required to maintain and develop an automated compliance monitoring program for clients.

The Role

The role itself is demanding as it covers client advisory work in a number of regulated sectors: investment funds; fund service providers; MiFID investment firms; payment institutions; credit institutions; and insurance undertakings. The successful candidate will need to have experience advising clients in a number of these sectors or acting as a senior compliance professional in a number of these sectors and be capable of diversifying their skillset into other areas as regulatory change demands. This is a permanent role and the key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Advising clients on all regulatory matters including capital requirements, client assets, compliance frameworks, acquiring transactions, policy documents, market abuse, cyber-security, regulatory licensing requirements, systems and controls, anti-money laundering/counter-terrorist financing/financial sanctions, Solvency II and data protection;
• The ability to identify revenue opportunities that arise from new legal regulatory developments;
• Reviewing and analysing new and forthcoming legislative and industry developments both at a European and Irish level and determine impact on our clients businesses;
• The provision of training sessions and workshops to clients on a range of regulatory matters;
• Acting as a money laundering reporting officer for a number of investment funds and management companies and be responsible for managing each relationship;
• Assisting the Director of Financial Services Regulatory with business development and new initiatives;
• Practicing a strong analytical approach to client and in-house queries;
• Speaking at conferences on regulatory developments and other client related topics; and
• Ensuring the delivery of the highest client service and advice to all clients of the firm.
