My client is the leading company in it’s field and it’s very easy for me to state how good they are to work for- but quite simply it’s the truth ! – it started off as a small family business 20 years ago but now they employ close to 40 people. Due to continued success; they are now looking to recruit a highly motivated Sales Executive to join the Business.

This is a GOLDEN opportunity for someone who wants to earn strong commission and work in a positive culture- the big draw is the Director !- he is a gentleman to work for; well liked by the team and Business and you will learn a lot from him.

This opportunity is based in Dublin West and will predominantly be office based. Salary has an OTE of €40,000- 50,000

The Role; what is involved and why the opportunity

This role has come about due to increased workload and the Director is looking for someone to come in and make the role their own !

So what will you be selling? One great aspect is that my client is a one stop solution for a lot of their clients needs- some of their competitors just sell certain products but my clients would be sell it all ! which makes it easier for their customers as they can go to them with various product needs

The role will predominantly fall in to the Electrical side of the Business as the Director sees a lot more growth there- the Reps would have some large accounts ( Power City ; DID; Expert) but in every town in Ireland; especially in Rural Ireland- you would have smaller Independent shops You will also work with another manager- who looks after the Hardware Sector and identify other potential clients but crucially other avenues as well- i.e to target the Hotel and Tourist sector.

In this role,. It’s vitally important that you have strong communication skills- not just verbal but most important- to be able to listen as well. You will be expected to roughly make 20-30 calls but what is great about this opportunity is that it is a new role- ” a blank canvass” the Director said “Denis I’m not overly concerned about how many calls this person makes; more about the quality of the calls and building relationships with the Customers.”

You will be given warm accounts and a great aspect about being in the office is that you will pick up some inbound sales ! one good aspect is that depending on the season you will push certain products- so just won’t be all accessories- ( for example Blue Tooth Speakers are a big sale coming up to Christmas but as mentioned; smaller stock although less in value are more in demand and are easy for the shop to stock it. )

Another aspect to the role aside from calls ; is sending out emails to customers so attention to detail is important and ability to prioritise and following up with Customers is crucial for success. The Director wants to see someone who will follow up- so if a Customer says “come back to me in 2 weeks with an email on offers.” Well then put it in the diary to come to the Customer- following through on a promise.

Crucially, in terms of Admin you will work off their IPad system– but its important ; that you have an eye for detail and follow through on your admin. The admin side is important as the Warehouse team will see what has been ordered and get the stock prepared and ready for delivery.

Salary for this role is between a base of €25-27,000 according to the Director- “Denis there is no reason why the successful candidate cannot earn an extra €15,000- 20,000 on top of base salary” so overall to come out with an annual salary of €40000 minimum and €50,000 if a success OTE is definitely achievable-

In terms of the company’s approach – and this is reflective of their reputation in the market- the following is important in terms of approach with customers and building relationships with them and in particular for sales

  • Have a positive attitude and don’t be selfish- the reason why the team have been there so long is that everyone helps each other out
  • Do not be pushy and build customer relationships– It’s not in their style and Customers will come back again to you and you will make more in sales if you are honest- for example ” Mr . Customer only take 6 of X rather than 12″ why? Because they prefer to see the stock being sold and if the Customer needs anymore he will appreciate the honesty and generally come back to you in the future.
  • Be prepared to be flexible and calm under pressure– if you can sell more with a customer; they may/ more than likely ask for a discount- only naturally- see what is viable but at the same time within reason and be commercial about it.
