AMICUS RECRUITMENT has a fantastic opportunity for a National Account Controller within the FMCG sector for the South East Region. With operations in Carlow; Wicklow and Wexford; my client has doubled growth year on year and due to continued expansion ( and yes that is considering Covid ! ) are now looking for a strong National Account Manager/ Controller to join the Busines. ( Generally; every 12- 18 months they would acquire a new Brand and indeed their customer base would pass on recommendations/ referral to partner with my client due to their service and customer satisfaction) and they have won a number of awards within the trade.

My Client has a hard working; genuine solid team in place – led by a fair and supportive Commercial Managing Director who has been with the Business for the last 7 years. A number of the employees have been with the Business for several years- ( one employee came in as a Marketing Intern and within 4 years ; is now Pharmacy Channel Manager ) They have a humble; down to earth culture where everyone works together and helps each other out. Aside from the ‘ nults and bolts’ of a Commercial NAM role ; the successful will lead a team; work closely with the MD and be part of the Leadership Team- so you will obtain fantastic exposure to the Business and strategy.

The big sell for me is the Managing Director- I know from others in the company and feedback passed on to me – that he is fair; supportive and invests in his people. Also my client has had investment from a larger international group which has brought extra opportunities for the Business.

Job Description

I had a lengthy call with the Managing Director over Zoom and he said the following ” Denis I am looking for a commercial National Account Manager who is marketing aware; can lead negotiations; meetings with the major Retailers and then work with me in identifying new business opportunities. They must be articulate; commercial and come with ideas and not afraid to voice their opinion as he/ she will be part of the Leadership team. Without sounding biased about it; I think it is a great opportunity for an experienced FMCG NAM to join the Business. We don’t tolerate any ego’s – and it is very much about the team and winning together “

Key Responsibilities

  • Development of key account plans in Multiple Retail customers when required
  • Achievement of forecast and budget Revenue targets in conjunction with Team targets.
  • Delivery of sales forecast on time and accurately by Brand.
  • Inspire an engaged and personable team.
  • Be marketing and brand aware and work with the MD in identifying new business opportunities.
  • Developing and executing Joint Business Plan’s with Key Customers and be responsible for tbudget.
  • Work in conjunction with commercial finance and trade marketing to develop promotional plans suitable to each customer while seeking to maximise profitability for the business
  • Manage one or more category groups within selected customers within the multiple retail channel:
  • Ability to analyse complex data and present solutions that deliver results.
  • Initiative to learn from previous executions, and be able to adapt and optimize future based on these learnings
  • Be a leader within the team to support & develop key members to grow and develop.


  • Extensive sales experience ideally in multiple retail FMCG customer management.
  • High level of commercial awareness and being able to lead a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent relationship building & teamwork skills and proven negotiation skills
  • High level of IT proficiency.
