This new role based in Dublin is an exceptional opportunity for a Solicitor seeking to make a transition in-house. The role offers continued professional development within a team that advise on a particularly broad range of legal and regulatory issues in multiple jurisdictions.

This position would afford the role holder the unique opportunity to maintain a broad remit of legal advisory whilst also operating in a business oriented role. This is one of the strongest junior in-house positions we’ve seen over 2018 and applicants with a mix of skills and exposure to a top 15 firm environment would be ideally suitable.

This role presents an opportunity to gain exposure to international markets and cross jurisdictional agreements and would offer a significant platform of experience from which to launch a career in law.

Key responsibilities:

  • Liaise with partner companies to negotiate and finalise agreements;
  • Representing Legal at cross-company project meetings for new business arrangements;
  • Completion of research of insurance supervisory and health insurance laws of multiple jurisdictions;
  • Research of legal requirements for sales arrangements and new products in other jurisdictions;
  • Draft and review of contracts and agreements (insurance contracts, intermediary contracts, reinsurance contracts as well as other agreements with external parties);
  • Provide legal support to new product development and new market entry projects as well as determining the legal impacts of such projects;
  • Review of marketing material and policy documents;
  • Product development advice (legal and regulatory);
  • Regulatory advice and research regarding sales practices globally;
  • Manage applications for new and renewals of licenses (reinsurance licenses) required
  • Managing relationships with external counsel and taking responsibility for external legal budget;
  • Some travel will be required for this role to support the needs of the business.

Experience Required

  • Qualified lawyer with minimum NQ – 3 years PQE
  • Legal experience in another EU Member State desirable
  • Experience in an in-house legal role desirable. Experience in a similar industry (insurance /reinsurance) desirable
  • Exposure to cross border regulatory environment
  • Excellent written English required
