The Category Executive role is an integral part in building, developing and maintaining credible, long term, category lead relationships with retail partners. The role provides functional expertise to the National Accounts and Brand teams, applying category insights and consumer & shopper knowledge to identify opportunities and provide recommendations and solutions to grow sales and brand market share.

In this role, you must be able to work with retailers, be sympathetic to the challenges they face but also be bold and provide innovative recommendations to help them improve business.


Category Range Review

Establish and maintain a strong relationship with Retail Partners in the development of category plans

  • Utilize knowledge of customer and Category Management to facilitate the customer business planning process
  • Support development of our customer Category action plans within each customer
  • Internally Lead the range review process for the categories & work collaboratively with retailers


  • Turn insights into actions within retailers by executing, analysing and evaluating category plans & data
  • Identify category opportunities & Educate Sales team on how to capitalise on these opportunities
  • Provide business analysis and insights of sales, pricing, opportunity gaps for incremental volume
  • Deliver NPD, portfolio mix and merchandising effectiveness analysis
  • Monitor brand health, sales, shopper penetration, trial and repeat
  • Always integrate the perspective of the consumer and shopper
  • Develop thought leadership around healthier snacking

Monthly Reporting & Brand Engagement

  • Deliver agreed scheduled market updates to colleagues, Brand Principles and Retailers
  • Have an agreed schedule of contact with brand principles

Data Management

  • Develop deep functional expertise in Talysis, Dunnhumby, EYC, IRI and Nielsen data,
  • Database maintenance, ensuring all platforms are updated to reflect latest available information


  • University – Bachelor’s Degree
  • At least 1 year in a Category, Insight or analytical role would be preferred
  • Must have the ability to think analytically and turn insight into key recommendations
  • Must be highly Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Knowledge of the consumer goods industry including channels, shoppers, consumer & industry trends
