My Client is a leading FMCG Organisation with cutting-edge brands and due to continued growth and a promotion within the company; there is a requirement to bring in a strong Business Unit Controller for the team. This role will be extremely diverse and varied role and that you must be able to adapt and work at pace; commercial; get buy in and drive growth of the brands.*

The Role

In conjunction with the team, this role is all about relationships- you will play a vital role and be the link between the NAM’s; Brand Owners and Business. I spoke to the current Business Unit Controller on the position and he said the following:

“I have loved my time in this position so hence the promotion In terms of commercials and success; it is that juggling act of balancing volume v Margin and delivering on top line growth for the brands. Managing relationships and setting expectations is key to success. You are also given a lot of autonomy to put your own stamp on the role and get to work with all areas of the Business; Field Sales; Category Management; NAM’s and get to work on great NPD; innovation with some cutting edge Brands.”

  • For this role; you must have at least 5 years’ experience as a National Account Manager/ Senior National Account Manager within the FMCG sector- This is a pre- requisite- you must have FMCG experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Point of contact for Commercial & operational relationships with key brands.
  • Deliver the jointly agreed business plan with these key brands to maximize profitability.
  • Work with stakeholders to deliver exceptional results at head office and field level.
  • Work with division heads and finance department to develop aggressive budgets, delivering profitable growth for the business.
  • Oversee and track all aspects of the brands’ performance: distribution, rate-of-sale, sales vs budget, spend vs budget, SKU performance & opportunities, channel performance & opportunities, brand equity measures, opportunities & threats.
  • Work closely with the category team to deliver compelling category and consumer arguments to achieve greater share of shelf in store.
  • Work with the commercial team to optimise retail pricing strategy
  • Work with Commercial Director, Marketing Manager & Category Team to identify new opportunities to drive the NPD Agenda

Key Requirements:

  • At least 5-6 years National Accounts experience within the FMCG sector.
  • Ability to interact convincingly with internal and external stakeholders and decision makers-
  • A strategic thinker with the ability to manage relationships and set expectations.
  • A passion for Brands; excellent commercial acumen and analytical skills.
