Job Description

AMICUS RECRUITMENT has one of the best opportunities in the marketplace – easy to say; but it is the truth ! I have been in Recruitment for over 13 years ( but still life in me !) and I can hand on heart say, they are one of the top companies in the worldwide FMCG sector. Over 90% of Households have one of their brands! Due to continued growth in the Retail market; they are now in the position to hire a Business Account Manager to join the team. * This is a golden opportunity for any switched on FMCG professional coming from a Sales background but has a thirst for learning *

The Opportunity

This role is unique in the FMCG marketplace but that is testament to the trust that the Country Manager installs in the culture of the people within the Business. This role covers key account management; branding; supply chain- you will be given a budget for the year. This may seem a little daunting ! but it promotes real learning and understanding and to succeed in; you must be very switched on; think about what you are doing. I

I know in our meeting with the Country Manager and the Senior Business Account Manager they highlighted the following ” our positions and roles here require a lot of thinking but also leadership“ (* Important to note; you will not be left on your own; you will be given a lot of training but at the same time there is no place to hide- The Country Manager does not sit in an Ivory Tower; everyone is held accountable; ownership and working as a team is really important to the culture there.

There are deadlines to hit; no different to any other FMCG Business is that it’s all about driving Revenue and you will get to learn from other Account Managers in the Business. ( I do know that they are well thought off by their customers- Dunnes; Tesco Musgraves etc ) The Senior Business Account Manager- who stated off as a Graduate- highlighted the following: ” Denis if you have a willingness to learn; a positive attitude; the Business will support you and back you 100%- they will give you ownership and the freedom to succeed. Sharing ideas; critical thinking and a drive to be successful are inherited in the DNA of the organisation. “

** For this role, you must have domestic FMCG experience and have excellent academics- (you must have either a 1.1 or 2.1 degree**

You may be wondering about the above and indeed the Irish Operation ? My Client does have certain approach to Recruitment – but it works ! and the success in Recruitment is reflected in the growth of the people and the success of the Business. ( They don’t shout from the rooftops with their wins but have humble, down to earth approach)

I can only speak for the Irish Operation, but it is very much about the people ! They are led by an approachable switched on Country Manager who has a wealth of experience within the FMCG sector and has worked for the Business both here and in Europe so brings a lot of critical thinking and expertise- but to be honest; the same approach and critical thinking can be said of all the Business Account Managers.

*I will not disclose the salary or overall package but my client offers a fair and competitive package ; it really depends on the candidate and what they can bring- ( the package does come with company car; on target bonus; health; pension and other benefits)- you must have a thirst for learning and be willing to grow and work well with others.

Account management experience with leading retailers, or experience within FMCG sector in supply chain or marketing.

A General overview of the opportunity:

  • In this role, you will acquire a deep understanding of your customer needs and requirements as well as an in-depth understanding of your shoppers, categories, and market
  • You will create and sell tailored customer plans that mean both our brands and our customers will win and outperform the competition by negotiation contracts, promo plans and innovations.
  • You will develop and maintain a productive long-term relationship with your customer
  • You will work within dynamic multi-functional customer teams which include finance analysts, supply chain managers, customer insight managers and shopper marketing.

  • Strong data analytics capability, to actively identify business opportunities.
  • Passion for brand and delivering on targets.
  • Proven ability to collaborate with strong communication, influencing, and negotiating skills.
